Beginning with story time, I will read "The Magic School Bus: Inside A Hurricane." Then with a hurricane video clip we will examine the science of what makes a hurricane. We will discuss what a hurricane is, how it forms, and why it is important to learn about. The students will then explore the NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) official website with information and interactive games specifically for kids. I encourage students to draw and label their own visual of a hurricane on their paper. Finally, I will provide a link enrichment activity for after class to continue the study of hurricanes with a hurricane tracker and simple kitchen experiment. This is a great introduction into weather and hurricanes, or a good review, for anyone who needs it.

Hello from Texas! Although I am currently residing in Texas, we move quite often and that has allowed me to have many different types of career experiences. I have tutored privately and through well-known organizations; taught in the public school classroom setting with a self-contained classroom (including 4th grade and Texas History); substituted and interned in private school classroom settings; instructed at the community college level (History); assisted with museum operations; and homeschooled my three munchkins. I have worked with early education all the way up to the community college level. My Bachelors is in childhood education with a Master's in American History.
