Class Experience

##Please note learners may drop in and out and any time in the ongoing course, knowledge does not build on prior classes. Each weeks topic will be influenced by the class, the theme is listed#.

Taught by a fully qualified, fully certified English Teacher with a BA in English Language and Literature.

What will be taught?
In this ongoing weekly course that meets twice a week, your learner will develop their written skills, by developing idea's with their peers. I will lead and inspire topic choices that will be relevant and fun, yet ensure relevance to the English curriculum. Many learners are challenged when they need to present written idea's in different formats, letters, articles, blogs, essays, descriptive, and creative forms.
The aim of this class is to explore weekly a different written form, and how the different written compositions need to be presented to their audience.

To achieve this we will work on:

- Language choice, formal or informal?
- Language features, and how to create the 'right tone' in a specific written composition.
- Different writing styles, persuasive, narrative, balanced, expository, explain, advise, advise, educate, and entertain.
- Structure techniques and understanding the importance of grammar.

Week 1 - 14/02/2022 - Theme - The Power Of Persuasion.

Week 2 - 21/02/2022 - Theme - A Personal Perspective, Making Writing Meaningful.

Week 3 - 30/02/2022 - Theme - Reading For Meaning.

Week 4 - 07/03/2022 - Theme - Opinion Vs A Fair Balanced Argument.

Week 5 - 14/03/2022 - Theme - Hypertherical Questions.

Week 6 - 21/03/2022 - Theme - How To Build A Strong Answer.

Additionally, learners will explore different texts, understanding and evaluating writers idea's. I will also teach meaningful questions/answer debates that prompt students to engage more with different genres, and to encourage reading for meaning and evaluating texts.

Learners need to be able to both evaluate texts and create their own innovative authentic written pieces.

I am a fully qualified certified English Teacher, that is also a qualified examiner. I have been teaching and coaching for over 10 years.

Lessons are relaxed, yet structured and fun, and will be a safe place for learners to explore their idea's and develop concrete written responses. Topics will be driven by your learners, but led by the teacher.

Topics will include traditional language questions, as well as broader contemporary questions that excite your learner.

** ALL LEARNERS ARE ENCOURAGED TO COMPLETE A SMALL WRITTEN PIECE OF WORK OUTSIDE OF CLASS FOR TEACHER FEEDBACK TO HELP IMPROVE AND INDIVIDUALISE THE EXPERIENCE***

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello and thank you for stopping by to find out a little more about me, although I am more interested in you! I am from London and live in Buckinghamshire in a rural countryside setting. I love the peace and tranquillity of nature and the outdoors.

I have always had a passion for English, ever since I was a little girl and a fantastic teacher inspired me to read and imagine that anything was possible. Fast forward many years, that dream of becoming an English teacher turned into reality for that little girl that spent hours reading and imagining different worlds.

I graduated from Birkbeck University in London, having taken a Bachelor of Arts in English Language and Literature. I studied everything from Shakespeare through to early 18th Century American Literature. I literally found my calling, I then went to achieve my PGCE equivalent Cert Ed in Education, where I qualified to teach young people aged 14+. In addition to this, I have been a private tutor for children ages 7+ for nearly a decade.

I love working across all age groups, as my approach to learning is both flexible and creative.
The most rewarding thing about my work, is my ability to connect with young people that do not believe in themselves. Teaching English, whether coaching to pass exams, or simply to improve written work or read for meaning, or to develop a hunger for exploring texts, is seeing ‘the moment’, the young person connects with what they are trying to achieve.

So, when I am not teaching, I love to walk my 2 dogs, cook or binge watch TV on Netflix.
If there is not something I offer, please just ask, and I will happily VA VA VOOM it up for you.
