US Grade 4 - 5
Develop solid math skills aligned with 4th and 5th-grade standards. Lessons are designed to help learners build and retain their knowledge of math concepts throughout the school year. Each lesson begins with a fun number sense activity and fact family practice, followed by skill practice. We'll review essential 4th-grade skills in our first few lessons and progress through more advanced 5th-grade concepts as learners are comfortable. Skill practice includes problems using the four basic operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division) with whole numbers, decimals, and fractions. Additionally, we'll cover geometry, measurement, and multi-step word problems. Lesson Topics: Week of Jan. 20, 2025- Read and write mixed numbers, practice reading a line plot, add & multiply fractions, and follow patterns for division. Week of Jan. 27, 2025- More word problems, symmetry challenges, comparing fractions, part-part-whole models, acute/right/obtuse angle identification, factor pairs, and a line plot. Week of Feb. 3, 2025- Multiply 3-digit by 1-digit numbers, add fractions with like denominators, draw line segments, and solve an area word problem. Week of Feb. 10, 2025- Multiply a fraction by a whole number, use illustrations to practice division with remainders, review place value, find an equivalent fraction, and review area & perimeter. Week of Feb. 17, 2025- Write fractions on a number line. Multiply whole numbers by fractions. Decompose a rectangle to find equivalent fractions. Find quotients with remainders. Week of Feb. 24, 2025- Problems assess the following skills: number patterns, fractions on a number line, 3-digit by 1-digit multiplication, prime/composite numbers, inchinches-to-feet versions, and more. Week of Mar. 4, 2025- Classify angles (acute/obtuse/right), lines of symmetry, multiplying multi-digit numbers by a single digit, and division word problems. Week of Mar. 11, 2025- Review number patterns, pounds to ounces conversions, angle types, fractions on a number line, division with remainders, and equivalent fractions. Week of Mar. 18, 2025- Right angles, perpendicular lines, value of underlined digits, ordering fractions, multi-step word problems, and types of angles. Week of Mar. 25, 2025- Multi-step word problems, decomposing fractions, prime and composite numbers, seconds to minutes conversions, and geometry. Week of Apr. 2, 2025- Read & interpret data on a line plot. Use a model to solve 2-digit by 2-digit multiplication problems. Convert miles to feet and days to weeks. Add fractions with like denominators. Week of Apr. 9, 2025- Practice multi-digit multiplication, number patterns, triangle classifications, measuring angles with a protractor, and line plots. Week of Apr. 16, 2025- Use fraction models to write equations, complete a long division problem, measure with a protractor, convert from meters to kilometers, calculate elapsed time on a number line, and create a line plot. Week of Apr. 23, 2025- Place value word problems, operations with fractions, converting and comparing feet to inches, finding equivalent fractions, area models, and division with 3-digit dividends.
