In this one-time class, I will instruct students on how to create dynamic characters that jump off the page. This class will be structured into four parts: A friendly introduction, welcoming students, and getting to know each other. A lesson where I will draw a unique character for the students and explain the process step by step. A draw-along, where I will show a reference image and we can all draw together to create our own characters. And to end a question and answer segment. As the instructor, I will teach by example and guide the students through the process of bringing a unique character to life by drawing live and explaining the motivation behind each stroke of my pencil. Beginning with a line of action, moving into gesture, next adding volumes, and finally details to give the character some unique flair. I have used these techniques as a professional artist and am excited to share them with your child.
Learning Goals
Students will improve their fundamental art skills along with critical thinking, analysis, and problem solving skills. We will be using gesture to create movement and balance, thinking in in 3 dimensional space, simplifying the drawing into simple shapes to build more complex objects over and problem solving the drawing by comparing and contrasting different parts of the drawing for accuracy.

Supply List
Nothing is necessary but I would encourage drawing materials (pencil, paper, pen) to draw along and take notes.

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
