Class Experience

Are you looking for the perfect monster friend? You have come to the right place. Each week we will draw and color a new monster together and make up a wacky story about our new monster friend.

This is a drawing class that will highlight each students work. After you draw your monster please make a video of you and your monster and share it to the classroom.

I will post a weekly video and ask you some questions about your monster! What's it doing? Does it have a name? What is it trying to do in your picture? Students should share their artwork and comment on other student's in productive and thoughtful ways.

We will then do our monster drawing together. I will have a monster prepared in advance to show the students and then move that away so we can draw step by step together.

Our monsters will be silly and adorable and doing some really funny things like feeding a little bird worms or dressing up like another animal. Some will be slimy and some will be drippy.

The great thing about a Flex Class is you can take the time you need to draw and rewind or redraw as needed. If you prefer a live class I offer this in a live format as well. This Flex class will be done using private Youtube video links. I do not have a public drawing channel and only use it for ease of access and use. There is no "live" portion to this class. You can message me your pictures or post them on the classroom.

I can't wait to draw with you.

Weekly Format:

Videos: I will post 1 video a week of our current monster. You have the entire week to complete it based on your schedule. The videos are between 15-25 minutes depending on the monster and the complexity. These monsters are actually more complicated than my drawing cute animals class but so much more interesting! Don't worry about being perfect or trying to replicate what I'm doing exactly. An artist is not a copying machine but a creator and so your creation will be uniquely yours. Eyes too big or too small, head a little wonky, don't worry about it because it's a monster and monsters are bound to look a little bit odd.

Discussion: Each week I give you a creativity challenge related to your monster. You can message or even record your own video as a response to the question.

Complete your drawing and your creativity challenge and share it with the class. You can privately message me your art but part of the Flex class experience is still building community with other student by interacting with each other's artwork.

Learning Goals

Students will improve their drawing and coloring skills while drawing usually adorable monsters. Students will work on waiting patiently, following directions, and engaging in imagination story telling.

Other Details

Parental Guidance
This class is meant to be funny and a little silly. Some of these monsters will drool. Some will be stinky. Some will have belly buttons and maybe even lint in them! Gross is not so gross if you're an adorable little monster. Students will want to pause as often as needed because these drawings are actually quite complicated. Remind your student they don't need to be perfect! There is no such thing. They should focus on having fun.
