Drawing Essentials One - How to Draw Anything!
What's included
6 live meetings
6 in-class hoursClass Experience
This is a 6 lessons course on drawing and understanding how to render 4 basic geometric shapes that make up every object. The four objects are Cube, Cylinder, Sphere, and Cone. We will learn how to render the objects using light and shadow to describe form and volume, as well as, render objects in matte, chrome, glass, stone, and plastic materials. We will start with basic line drawings and will build on each lesson as we go to really understand each object. This course is for everyone that wants to get better at drawing and understanding light, shadow, form, and materials. It is the basis of what I was taught at ArtCenter College of Design and 25 years working as a professional artist. Students will be drawing right alongside me either traditionally or digitally. I will be using both traditional and digital mediums as I teach as both styles work well. It will be beneficial if the students are able to share their drawings during the class via their cameras by holding their drawings up to the camera. This is not a requirement, but if they will and can share it will help me to see where they need help so that I can help them the most efficient way possible. The only thing needed for this class is a desire to learn and try to do their best.

Teacher expertise and credentials
I would love to teach everything art! From perspective to character/creature/props and environment designs for games. classes on creating Disney style parade floats based on their favorite movie or character. Also, Plein Air style painting from imagination and photos. Always open to new classes and would love to do this in both traditional and digital mediums.
To tell you a little about myself, I have been working as a concept artist for 25 years. I have taught kids and adult art and design classes along the way. I have a wealth of knowledge when it comes to art and design and truly love when I get the opportunity to teach and pass along some of that knowledge. I have been blessed to have worked as a concept artist for Disney, Universal Creative, Warner Bros, and Cedar Fair Parks. I have worked on brand experiences for Harry Potter, Avatar, Game of Thrones, Marvel, and many others.
My philosophy is that I believe art and design are a form of communication that when done properly can be understood by almost everyone. I also believe that everyone that can write words or draw stick figures can be taught to draw. I love to take complex subjects and break them down into bite-size pieces when I teach. I feel it is my responsibility to find out where each student is in the process and help them to learn at a pace and comfort level that inspires them to love art.
I am a father of seven wonderful kids and grew up surfing and playing sports. My favorite movie is Star Wars which also the one that heavily influenced my career choice.
