Even when drawing from the imagination, artists need an understanding of real life structures. Just like when calligraphers draw the same stroke on a letter over and again to "memorize" its shape, artists need to study human anatomy to help them commit to their mind and hand muscles a "memory" of the structure of the human body. Studying anatomy helps the artist gain a deeper knowledge of how to draw imaginary figures more accurately. This class will be a tutorial on the proportions of the male figure. We will be breaking down each part of the body and how it relates in size to the rest of the body. During class, we will draw a modest version of a male human figure from the front in a standing position. If we have time, we may also discuss some other anatomical figures as well: female, child, young person, baby, older person, etc.
Learning Goals
At the end of class, the student will have a full male figure and will understand the basic proportions of each part as they relate to each other.

Teacher expertise and credentials
I have loved drawing since I was a young boy. As a professional artist, I love to see imagination and creativity come alive! I believe that anyone can be an artist, and inside every child lies a unique storyteller waiting to be awoken. The stories of life through the filter of imagination compel us to live life to its fullest extent. Anime is my favorite storytelling genre because I believe this very philosophy has been captured by many beautiful anime series.
Every class I teach will heavily focus on visiting imaginative worlds through the works of others (books, movies, videos, anime, games, and art) as well as through creating our own characters and their worlds. The difficulty of my art classes range from beginner to advanced so no matter what your student is looking for, I have a class that will fit their skill level. My classes mainly focus on art tutorials, character design, the art of storytelling, analyzation of stories, and the creation of our own stories.
