Description

Class Experience

You've read the comics and seen the movies. You love superheroes, and want to design your own! In this course, students will learn how to draw the human figure and how to design character costumes and other elements in order to make the coolest, most expressive superhero possible. The class will collaborate on a few hero designs in-class, with the teacher leading drawing demonstrations based on student input.

Week 1: Fundamentals & Faces
-Brief intro to general character design...

-Character Design Principles
-Figure Drawing
-Color Theory

I studied illustration at the Maryland Institute College of Art, not to mention I'm a big fan of comic books myself, and am eager to share my knowledge and enthusiasm with more learners.

This class does not have homework, although students are encouraged to continue practicing during the week and to share their drawings in the Outschool classroom.

Students must have some form of erasable drawing media (pencil, charcoal, digital tablet, etc.) and a surface to draw on. A ruler is highly recommended.

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

45 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
