In this 4-week FLEX course, students will draw a new character each session! There are NO REGULAR LIVE MEETINGS for this class. This means your child will receive pre-recorded video lessons they can watch at their own pace on whatever schedule works best! Each video will utilize a top view camera to show up close each step in detail. Students can work at their own pace. No need to wait on others or feel rushed. You may view the video and pause it as many times as needed. Flex classes are an excellent choice for families with busy schedules. Parents and siblings are also able to sit and draw with the student as a fun activity to do together as a family! HOW IT WORKS: Students are encouraged to jump into the classroom and start introducing themselves, asking questions, and discuss their interests of princesses with each other. Students may share fun facts or knowledge on the princess and characters we draw from movies and books. Students are allowed to use images (especially toys they might have), typed messages, and video clips they create for peer interaction. This plays a HUGE part in making class so much more fun! If the students have time throughout the week, there will be a word search or maze along with a scavenger hunt to find images and toys similar to what we are drawing. On Mondays, I will post my instructional video, step-by-step, no later than 5pm Central Time. Please use a pencil to start the drawing. Have a good eraser! If you are having challenges, and things are not working well, please contact me ASAP so I can provide further help. The students can then decide how they want to color their character. Crayons, colored pencils, markers, anything is possible! Students are encouraged to add extra details and even design a background scene to go along with the character to make their drawing a unique masterpiece. Throughout the week, I will check into class to see how everyone is doing and answer any questions posted into the classroom. On Sundays, it is Art Show and Tell, art work submission day. I will check into class to see and remind learners to upload an image or video of their finished drawing. Once the drawing is submitted to the classroom, students are encouraged to leave positive comments on their classmate’s work, as well as other questions they may have for each other. This activity will give the students an opportunity to learn from each other and to see how each drawing is unique. This will promote positive feedback and encourage each learner to continue their passion for drawing. If a student prefers to send their drawing just to me, that is perfectly fine. I can’t wait to see each student’s artwork as we all share our love of princesses! Week 1: Rapunzel Week 2: Pascal Week 3: Maximus Week 4: Flynn

Teacher expertise and credentials
Alabama Teaching Certificate in Mathematics
Hello! My name is Cynthia McClellan and I live in Alabama, USA! I have three degrees in Mathematics Education: Bachelor of Science, Master of Science and Educational Specialist, and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. I have taught high school mathematics for 27.5 years. I taught geometry majority of my teaching career and taught virtual online school over the past few years. I have recently retired from the public high school and have been teaching through Outschool to students from all over the world.
When I am not teaching, my hobbies include painting, reading, gardening and playing with my dog. I love traveling and spending time with my family. My daughter and I have traveled extensively across the United States, from whale watching on the East Coast to hot air balloon riding on the West Coast. Of course, my favorite vacations are spent at various beaches.
My teaching philosophy revolves around hands on practicing and bringing real life applications as much as possible to the classroom environment. We will explore concepts in math, psychology, and art through geometric designs, projects, paintings, pastels, pencils and so much more. Your child's imagination and creativity will shine! I am so excited about the opportunity to meet your child and share the joy of learning in my classroom!
See you soon,
-Teacher Cynthia
