As a licensed art teacher, I have developed techniques for breaking down drawing lessons into simple, easy-to-follow steps. Once we get the basics done, I give my students freedom to complete their project using their own imagination, thereby giving them the opportunity to take what I have taught them to a different, fun and creative level.
Paper (heavy drawing or watercolor paper is encouraged if the child wishes to paint the background) pencil, eraser, pencil sharpener Sharpie or similar black permanent marker (optional) Crayola crayons (other brands of crayons, markers, oil pastels, coloerd pencils, etc. are also an option) blue watercolor paint for the background; paintbrush; bowl of water; newspaper or something similar to protect table if watercolor is used.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
For younger children: I encourage, but don't require, the use of Sharpies or similar black permanent markers as part of the drawing. As an elementary art teacher, I know how important it is to keep an eye on younger kids with permanent markers!
