Beginner - Advanced Level
I live on a 1974 Spencer 44' sailboat with my wife and 3 kids! It's an old boat and there are a lot of things wrong with it! Every week I will be working on something. Maybe I didn't finish last week's project and need to keep working on it. The overall structure of the class will begin with an introduction to the project, covering the tools that I will use, and walking everyone through my anticipated steps. I want the students to get a basic understanding of tools and repairs. DIY skills are great life skills and everyone should have at the very least a basic understanding of DIY.
I have done all my own work in my homes, on my cars, and on my boat. for almost 20 years I've been self-taught and taught by others on how to do these tasks. I also was an electrician for the college while I was a student.
While I will obviously disclaimer the kids with the "don't try this at home!" message. I implore the parents to be aware about what we covered and to reinforce that message at home! I don't want any of my students getting hurt trying to do their own "repairs" at home.
