In this one time course, students will create a uniquely designed face mask for any larger sized doll such as American Girl, Glitter Girl, or Journey Doll.

This course is designed to model creating a unique face covering pattern for any 14" or larger doll. Once the pattern is ready, we will craft together so students can learn step by step with the teacher. Students are encouraged to ask questions and give suggestions to bring extra creativity to our project. We will be working as a team throughout the lesson with planned progress checks along the way. Safety is always a priority and will be discussed while using scissors and adhesive. Students will also learn ways to "DIY" this project for a more personal touch. Once you know how to make your pattern, you can create a mask to match each outfit! :-) Materials checklist: Small square of scrap fabric (you can purchase or use fabric from an old/torn/stained shirt or even a sock!) 1/8 inch Cord elastic (~3.99) Permanent fabric adhesive such as Liquid Stitch (~3.99) Construction paper; or regular paper if not available Pencil Scissors *parental guidance may be encouraged for safety Once cord elastic and fabric adhesive are purchased, students will be able to use these items for many more projects at home! Our project will only use a very small amount of each.

I have been a teacher for 13 years. My first 11 years were spent in the public school system teaching 5th grade and middle school science. I have taught over 3,500 online English classes during the last 2 years while staying home with my two young children. When planning my lesson projects and objectives, I always ask myself, "Would I want to do this activity if a teacher assigned it to ME?"If you've ever worked with toddlers or middle schoolers, you know this is not always an easy task! ;-) My goal is to help students successfully understand important concepts while providing a fun learning experience and building positive relationships.
As a child, I can remember watching my grandmother sew beautiful, complicated dresses and it became an inspiration for me. I always enjoyed taking initiative and learning how to make clothes and toys for my dolls (and pets!) and create fun decorations for holidays. My childhood, professional, and "mom" experiences have paved the way for my DIY and holiday crafting classes, circle time for preschoolers, and middle school biology lessons! I cannot imagine loving any profession more than teaching. Outschool gives me an opportunity to share a wide variety of classes with learners; we have so much to learn together!
