Class Experience
The class will focus on different kinds of dinosaurs that lived around the world. Students will learn about 5-8 dinosaurs during each class. Students will learn about where they lived, what they ate, and how they survived. As a flex class, there will be no live lessons. Students will have access to lessons and videos on Nearpod that detail each topic and engage the students in activities with pictures and videos. Week #1 - Dinosaurs that lived in North America (Part 1) Week #2 - Dinosaurs that lived in South America Week #3 - Dinosaurs that lived in Asia (Part 1) Week #4 - Dinosaurs that lived in Europe Week #5 - Dinosaurs that lived in Africa Week #6 - Dinosaurs that lived in Australia/Oceania Week #7 - Dinosaurs that lived in Asia (Part 2) Week #8 - Dinosaurs that lived in North America (Part 2) During the class, students will follow along with a Google slides presentation to learn about each dinosaur. The information about each dinosaur will be presented through video lectures. Students will be able to view pictures and details about each dinosaur. Also, students will engage with Nearpod activities (such polls, quizzes, open-ended questions, matching, and games) that give them an opportunity to review the information they've learned related to each dinosaur. Assignments will be posted each week at 10:00 am (MST), and students will be expected to complete the activities within one week. Learner Interaction: Students will interact through Nearpod activities (such as polls, quizzes, open-ended questions, matching, and games) to ask questions and engage in discussions with other learners enrolled in the class. IMPORTANT NOTICE: Nearpod activities require some typing and/or reading, so some parental involvement may be necessary for younger learners. Teacher expertise and credentials
Welcome! I'm very excited to be your teacher! I live in Idaho in the United States. I enjoy reading and writing young adult novels, traveling around the world with my family, and kayaking on the Snake River.
I have a Juris Doctor from the S.J. Quinney College of Law, University of Utah; a Master of Arts in Education from the University of Phoenix; and a Bachelor of Arts in English from Brigham Young University. I taught high school English for eight years, and I currently teach ESL online. I am also a former prosecutor and defense attorney, and I currently do appellate work in criminal law.
I plan on teaching classes about the criminal justice system and current legal topics. I also plan on teaching classes about reading and writing, both for young students and teens.
I look forward to seeing you in my classroom!
