Do you love dinosaurs and learning? I do too! Each week we will explore letters, numbers, a new dinosaur, and more! We will begin reading cvc words and begin basic addition and subtraction through engaging dinosaur activities. Sunday Class: Week 1 (February 7th, 2021): Letter A and Letter B, Count from 1 - 10, learn about the triceratops, and a dinosaur scavenger hunt! Week 2 (February 14th, 2021): Show some love with dinosaurs! We will practice the Letter L, Letter O, Letter V, and Letter E and play, "What's Missing" with dinosaurs! Week 3 (February 21st, 2021): Letter C and Letter D, adding within 10, learn about the stegosaurus, and play, "Name that Dinosaur" as a Baambozzle game! Week 4 (February 28th, 2021): Beginning letter sounds, the number 11, learn about a T - Rex, and a dinosaur would you rather game! Thursday Class: Week 1 (February 18th, 2021): Letter A and Letter B, Count from 1 - 10, learn about the triceratops, and a dinosaur scavenger hunt! Hi there!
I have been a teacher for 12 years in elementary school and currently teach 4th grade. I have experience working with all grade levels K - 6 and enjoy learning and working with students of any age. I have my Bachelor's Degree in elementary education and teaching credential from Loyola Marymount University. I received my Master's of Science Degree from Mount St. Mary's University where I completed my thesis in math word problem solving. I am a National Board Certified Teacher which means I am certified to teach in any state in the United States.
As a twelve year veteran teacher, I been trained in Common Core, Reader's and Writer's Workshop, and English Language Learner instruction. My students have a 90% pass rate in both math and reading on state standardized tests.
Teaching Philosophy:
I believe every student can learn and grow their brain. My teaching style involves a lot of student discussion mixed with strong modeling and guided practice. I encourage students to share their ideas, ask questions, make mistakes, and try something new. In any class I teach I promote kindness, respect, and having a growth mindset.
Some fun facts about me:
-Before teaching, I was a camp counselor and softball coach for five years
-I was a Girl Scout for 12 years and still work with Girl Scouts Troops today!
-I love Target and Starbucks
-My favorite books are Harry Potter, Boxcar children, and any Read Alouds I do with my class
-My favorite sports are softball, baseball, and volleyball
-My favorite video game: Mario Kart (I always pick Toad as my driver)
What I love to teach:
-All academic subjects but my favorite is Math
-Book talks with popular books (ex. Warrior Cats and Babysitter's Club)
-Celebrating holidays, learning about dinosaurs, and any other fun topic!
-More fun classes in the future!
