What's included

1 live meeting
45 mins in-class hours
Homework
Students may need to finish a project outside of class if they cannot finish it during class time.
Assessment
Students will self-assess their work verbally with the teacher. We will focus on constructive criticism, how to self-assess, and being resilient in art-making.

Class Experience

***Students with little or no experience using Procreate should complete the Procreate 101 course first as well as at least one other of my Digital Art courses.

**This project was completed in my Weekly Procreate Club, so students enrolled in that recurring course may have already completed this project.

Students will learn in a small group via zoom video chat with Cara. Instruction will be given step-by-step and students will be assisted along the way. No prior knowledge is required for this course.

Students will learn to create a still life containing items that are about them!

Student Materials Needed:
*Ipad
*Procreate Drawing App ($9.99 in the App Store)
*Stylus - An Apple Pencil is best, but any stylus can be used.
*Some reference photos that symbolize things about you. For instance, if you ride horses, you may want to choose something that you would use when riding a horse. If you play tennis, maybe you want to choose a tennis ball or racket as one of your items.

I would choose between 8-12 objects. You may decide not to use them all and that's fine! If you can find PNG files (no background) those will be easiest to use, but simple backgrounds are fine too.

Some things I may include in mine:
paint/paintbrush
camera
dog collar
something to symbolize travel
something to symbolize teaching
favorite food(s)

Hello, my name is Cara!

I have been teaching art since 2003 in school and studio environments. I have a Bachelor of Arts in Art from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. My concentrations are in education and painting. I have experience teaching students as young as 3 up to adults. The majority of my in-school teaching experience was in grades 6-12. At my studio, I teach students weekly and also have classes for homeschool students, open studio, birthdays, graduations, and team-building. I love that online platforms allow teachers and students to connect across the world! What an amazing opportunity!

I love to create bright-colored abstract paintings, usually in acrylic or watercolor. I live with my husband and three dogs a short drive from my art studio! I look forward to meeting you!

**Class Policies:

*Please have learners log in 2-3 minutes before the scheduled class start time so that we can start on time.

*All class times are approximate. Class length may vary due to student ability and class size. Classes are designed to be no longer than the time allotted.

*Late/Missed Class Policy - All courses will begin on time as long as one learner is in the classroom. In the event that no students are in the classroom at the assigned class time, the teacher will leave a message on the discussion board and exit the classroom after 10 minutes. Class recordings are available upon request.

***Tardy Policy - Learners who have missed ten minutes or more of the class time should request a transfer. I will lock the meeting after ten minutes so that the students in class are not distracted by late students. Instruction is given step-by-step, so tardiness detracts from everyone's learning experience. I am happy to work with you to try to meet your scheduling needs and want each learner to have an optimal experience!

***I do not check or respond to messages while I am teaching classes. I will respond as soon as I can after class has ended.

*Certificates of completion are available upon request.

*Ongoing classes run from September through May. We will take a break for summer so that everyone can vacation and do summer camps.
