In this class, we will cover the basics of creating a budget, how banks, insurance companies, and investment firms work.  Students will learn how to use spreadsheets and the math behind basic financial functions, such as cost estimation, return on investments, the value of money over time, and credit card / loan payments.

The class will be structured as a "show and do" in which the instructor will show the students how to do something and the students will do that in class under the instructor's guidance and oversight so that the student masters what is being taught.  

Throughout the course, there will be mostly lectures with slides and spreadsheets with some videos.  Students are encouraged to ask questions and discuss ideas.
