This class is all about the important life skills of critical thinking, reasoning, and learning how to have respectful conversations with people who might see things differently. It’s not about debating to “win” an argument—it’s about understanding different perspectives, thinking deeper, and learning how to express yourself clearly and respectfully. Since classes are kept small, everyone gets a real chance to share their thoughts, ask questions, and explain their reasoning. I’ll introduce a short story or scenario as a prompt, then ask the students to analyze the situation and share their perspectives. I don’t tell students what to think. My job is to guide the discussion, challenge students to see things from different angles, and encourage respectful dialogue. This isn’t about finding the “right” answer—it’s about learning how to think critically and form your own well-reasoned opinions. No prior knowledge is needed—just curiosity and a willingness to think outside the box. Per Outschool’s rules, students must have their video on at the start of each class for identification. While I encourage students to keep their video on throughout the discussion, they’re welcome to turn it off if they prefer. Week of April 14th - Group discussion around the following scenario: "School Budget Cuts". Week of April 21st - Group discussion around the following scenario: "The Birthday Gift". Week of April 28th - Group discussion around the following scenario: "The Friendship Feast". Week of May 5th - Group discussion around the following scenario: "The Carnival Comeback". Week of May 12th - Group discussion around the following scenario: "The Flower Power Surprise". Week of May 19th - Group discussion around the following scenario: "The Homeschool Talent Show". Week of May 26th - Group discussion around the following scenario: "The Ice Cream Dream Day". See you soon!
