In this class, students will learn the first part of creative writing, which is to create a premise. They will learn what a premise is, why they need it, and how to structure it. They will then write the first chapter.

Beginner - Advanced Level
Learning how to write a premise is a skill that will help students become published authors. In addition, this skill will also help them create elevator pitches and loglines in the event they wish to try for a traditional publishing contract or pitch to film/TV producers. Creative Writing: Write Your First Chapter is a live one-time, one-hour interactive class where students will learn what a premise is, how creating a premise will help them, and will receive instruction on the structure of a premise. They will then create their premises, receive immediate feedback, and write the first chapter during the remaining class time. They will be able to ask questions and receive immediate feedback on their writing.

Pre-Requisites
Students must have basic knowledge of grammar and punctuation.
Supply List
A two-page handout will be provided. Students may also want to have a notebook/journal and pen/pencil.
