Hi! My name is Jess Quick (she/they), and I love writing! In addition to what I do here on Outschool, I engage in creative writing in a serious capacity, drafting and editing my own manuscript as well as critiquing, workshopping, and discussing others' works with the goal of helping them discover new ideas and improve their writing. I believe in the deep power of story and understand that being able to write your own can be the purest form of self-expression. And when your story is well-written, the strength of your message can resonate with your readers.
My hope is to offer courses on the fundamentals of storycraft to help jumpstart your learner's writing journey. Sometimes, much like drafting, the hardest part is the blank beginning when you don't quite know where to start. I will work with your learner to lay a solid foundation over which their imagination can take shape and their unique voice can emerge. Despite the broad variety of books and short stories out there, all of the great ones have common features that make them memorable.
