Class experience
Time to get those creative cogs turning! In this art club, artists will practice their drawing, painting, collaging, and general creativity skills. Every week we rotate mediums; the first week we draw, the second week we paint with watercolors, the third week we collage, and the fourth week, artists get to choose between those three. We will be practicing various techniques in all of those mediums, using a wide range of subject matter (such as landscapes, pattern and design, animals, etc.) to...
Students will enhance their drawing, watercolor painting, collaging, and creativity skills. Students will learn the principles of design to enhance composition creation abilities. Students will obtain inspiration from one another by sharing ideas and thoughts.
I received my AA in studio art in 2016, and I have been teaching art since 2020, when I led a paint tutorial for a sixth grade birthday party that was almost cancelled due to the pandemic. I really enjoyed the experience and became excited about the idea of sharing art and creativity with other artists. I love both the science and subjectiveness of art--I think there's a lot we can learn from it, and I can't wait to share it with your learners!
I am flexible with materials! Any specific supplies needed will be sent in the classroom comments the week before the class for which you'll need it. Drawing: ~Pencils (2H, 2B, 4B, 6B, 8B recommended): $6+ ~Eraser ~Stumps and/or tortillons: $2+ ~***Optional: Charcoal ~***Optional: Ink (fine-tip sharpies, colored pens, etc.) ~***Optional: colored pencils or crayons Painting: ~Watercolor paints (palettes): $6+ ~Watercolor paper or very thick paper: $4+ ~Watercolor paint brushes (Michael's): $6+ ~2 cups of water for cleaning brushes ~An old rag or paper towels ~Optional: Paint mixing palette if your paints are in tubes (or get creative with wax-coated paper plates, old cookie sheets, old plastic trays, etc.) Collaging: ~Thick paper on which you can glue items down ~Collage items (you can get creative here: old book pages, magazine images, printed images, paint swatches from the hardware store, items found around your house (i.e. string, paper clips, foam, you name it), etc). I recommend limiting the items to things that will adhere with white glue or glue sticks. ~White glue and/or glue sticks ~Scissors ~A ruler
