What will be taught: How to draw Michaela The Leopard Squishmallow, facts about leopards, basic drawing terminology regarding lines and shapes, and also possibly drawing a baseball because that is one of the things Michaela loves (if time allows). What topics will be covered: The appropriate steps to draw an accurate rendering of Michaela The Leopard Squishmallow, basic facts about leopards, and, if time allows, also drawing a baseball which corresponds to Michaela's interest in baseball. How is the class structured: Teacher introduction, student introductions, quick reminder of student code of conduct, introduction to the lesson with a slide presentation, guided drawing, students' independent drawing if time permits, spotlighting to give students an opportunity to showcase their artwork, wrap-up. How will I teach: Using a document camera, I will guide students through the drawing process by breaking it down into simple, sequential steps. What is my teaching style: friendly, upbeat, calm, supportive, helpful, while maintaining students' focus on the lesson's objective. How much will learners interact with me and each other: students' direct interaction with me will be at the beginning and the end of the lesson, but they are free to ask questions at any time during instruction in a non-disruptive manner. I will consistently have check-ins with students throughout the lesson to gage their comprehension and progress. Students interaction with each other will also mostly occur at the beginning and the end of the class. Required experience for students: the ability to use hand/eye coordination to hold and maneuver a pencil to draw and color an image on a sheet of paper.
