Intermediate Level
By learning the fundamentals of developing their pieces wisely, the students will improve their game by not falling into common traps experienced by many chess players.
Homework Offered
Students will receive chess puzzle sheets to be printed out. The chess puzzle sheets will be discussed in class to make sure all students understand how to solve them.
0 - 1 hours per week outside of class
Assessments Offered
A learner is assessed by understanding the answers on each chess puzzle sheets and knowing how to checkmate to win their games. When a student practices chess at home with others, or on-line, their skills will increase--this will reflect in their knowledge of the game.

Students should have a pencil in class and the chess puzzles printed out, which will be attached in a PDF form in the Classroom.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
We will be using the lichess.org website for students to play chess games on-line. The students will be copying the game link and pasting it in the Zoom Chat Box for other students to click on and access the game. Usernames and passwords to lichess.org will not be used for this class.

ChessKid.com is an additional resource that can help the students to improve their chess skills. This website provides Chess Puzzles, practice against chess bots, and informative videos which are made by Grand Masters.
