Join this introductory class and learn the essential skills of chess. You will explore how to capture, protect, and defend your pieces, as well as how to handle check situations. This class is tailored to your individual needs and level of understanding. You will learn from an experienced instructor via zoom and lichess, a web-based chess platform. You will also have the opportunity to play and practice on your own, with parental permission. You will receive assignments upon request and participate in fun quizzes using Kahoot. You will engage with the instructor by answering questions and sharing your thoughts. This class is open to anyone who wants to learn chess or improve their game.
Learning Goals
At the end of the lesson, Learners will better understand chess basics: Captures, Protection, Combat and Defense, and the meaning of check.
