Cooking & Baking with DeAnn: Fun Desserts for Autumn, Fall, Winter (FLEX 14-18)
What's included
Homework
Our class has the best kind of homework! Make the dessert and then enjoy eating it! :)Class Experience
** THIS IS A FLEX CLASS AND DOES NOT HAVE LIVE MEETINGS ** Students will learn how to make fun desserts that are typically enjoyed in autumn, fall, or winter. (However, I'd be happy to eat these any time of the year!) Quick Class Schedule Overview: Week 1: Homemade Pumpkin Pie and Single Crust Week 2: Caramel Dip for Apples Week 3: Apple Crisp Week 4: The Incredible 4-Layer Pumpkin Cake Week 5: Homemade Apple Pie and Double Crust with both lattice and solid tops There's just something about the autumn time of year (and then that spans through winter) that makes me want to start baking...and pumpkins and apples seem to be one of my favorite fall ingredients. A list of supplies and ingredients will be sent out each week on Wednesdays (if you class starts on Saturday) or on Fridays (if your class starts on Monday) so you can plan and shop for any ingredients you might need. Photos of the ingredients and supplies will be included to help when shopping for ingredients. (It's always nice to have a visual of what you are looking for if it's a new ingredient.) Recipes and instructional videos will be sent out early each Saturday or Monday morning at 2:00 am MT (depending on the start day of your class) in preparation for the new week so you can make your pies at a time that works best for you. I record videos of the entire recipe process, so we will be making each recipe together step by step using the videos. I will be available throughout the entire class for questions and comments and will do my best to respond quickly. Because this is a flex class, learners are encouraged to post on the classroom page. I will ask questions about the recipes and/or process at the end of each week. Students should be prepared to share successes, as well things that might have been a struggle as they learned something new. Students will also be encouraged to share photos with the class of at least 3 of their desserts. My class is a safe place to learn, grow, make mistakes, laugh together, feel confident, and find new ways to be successful. I want everyone to feel safe and happy while creating in the kitchen. Come make dessert with me!
Learning Goals
Students will:
• Learn to make different homemade fall/autumn desserts.
• Share experiences with one another through the classroom.
• Build recipe files and increase confidence in cooking and baking.

The supply lists and ingredients will change each week, depending on the desserts we are making, and will be sent out on Wednesday mornings so learners can plan and prepare for the upcoming week. As with all of my cooking and baking classes, I will include photos as well as lists for the supplies and ingredients we will be using to make it easier for students to see and gather what they need for class. Teacher expertise and credentials
Bachelor's Degree in Education from Weber State University
Cooking and baking are some of my favorite hobbies and I enjoy spending time making a variety of foods for my family. During the fall and winter seasons, I love to bake delicious desserts! I have been cooking and baking for my family for over 25 years. However, my hobby truly began when I was a young girl and I wanted to make and create different foods and dishes in the kitchen. I am excited to share this wonderful hobby with young chefs and create an excitement in them as well.
