Beginner - Intermediate Level

Many students are amazing at reading the words in a story, but struggle with understanding the text.  One piece of the puzzle to comprehension is vocabulary, and more importantly, the ability to use context clues in order to determine the meaning of challenging, or unknown words.

This class will include teacher-led instruction. We will practice beginning with sentences and multiple choice options, and move to text where students will explain their answers.   

Our class time may include:  student discussion, videos, teacher-led presentations, and online games to practice.

Lesson 1:

Introduction to Context Clues

 Learn why context clues are important and the types of clues to keep an eye out for.

Learning How to Use the Clues

 In this session, we will learn how to identify and use clues to figure out the meaning of unknown or unfamiliar words in a sentence.

Putting it All Together

 In this session, we will expand from using clues in sentences, to using them in larger text.

Other Details

Parental Guidance

We will play a game either using Kahoot or Blooket. Students can use a separate devise or can simply open up a new tab. They do not need to create an account. They will be given a code to join my game.
