In this one time class, learners will work together to build a structure that utilizes command blocks. From elevators to summoning mobs, learners will set a group goal and work to achieve it as a team. Learners will work on communication skills while building as a team. Each section of this class will build a unique structure that will remain in the realm after the class ends. The structure basics will be determined by the teacher, but the details will be up to the teams. The first few minutes of class will be reserved for introductions, and entering the realm, then we will determine our build and spend the rest of class time working on the structure. This class will be hosted on a Bedrock Minecraft Realm in creative mode. If you are unfamiliar with how to join a realm, or whether or not your settings are correct, please see my offering for realms troubleshooting. Learners will need to own a copy of Minecraft Bedrock Edition (Windows 10, Switch, Xbox One, Ipad, Android) [Please note that Realms is not currently supported on PS4] All learners will need to have a Minecraft profile with online play enabled. This class is NOT compatible with Java edition. This class is NOT a Mojang product IMPORTANT UPDATE REGARDING MINECRAFT MOBILE : Minecraft is updating their requirements for mobile devices starting in October 2020. This means that some older mobile devices will no longer be supported in Realms. I am including a link to their article regarding which devices are affected. If you received an update that stated your device is no longer supported, your device is affected by this update. All classes happening before October 31st should be unaffected. Any class after October will require a device that meets Minecraft's newest requirements. Thank you for your understanding in this matter. https://www.minecraft.net/en-us/article/important-news-regarding-minecraft-mobile
Learning Goals
Students will build their communication skills, and gain a basic understanding of command blocks in Minecraft.
Other Details
Parental Guidance
Minecraft is a dynamic game, with a multitude of spontaneously generated "mobs", some of which can cause damage to the Player characters. We will be playing in creative mode, but there is the possibility that some of the work we will do may cause your learners character to be damaged, potentially to the point of temporary death before re-spawning. Please be aware that this is an aspect of gameplay in Minecraft. Thank you for your consideration on this matter.
Supply List
Learners will need to own a copy of Minecraft Bedrock edition and have it installed on at least one of the following devices : Windows 10 PC, Ipad, Iphone, Android tablet, Android phone, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch Learners will also need to have Minecraft (Xbox Live) profiles with online play enabled on their Minecraft profiles. (If you need guidance on this, please message with the specific device to get personalized instructions)

Teacher expertise and credentials
Bachelor's Degree from University of New Orleans
Hello! My name is Beth. I teach classes in writing, sewing, gardening, and life skills. I unschool my own two children, we are from New Orleans, LA, and now live on a small farm in south Mississippi.
I believe that where there is interest, learning will follow. I create engaging and interesting classes that inspire interest and foster learning and true comprehension. I offer a supportive and positive learning environment where it is safe to make mistakes. Mistakes are an amazing opportunity for learning. I enjoy helping students find the spark that lights the fire of motivation. In my classroom, students grow in confidence and bravery.
I look forward to seeing you in my classroom!
