In this festive math class, learners will “notice and wonder” using pictures and visual thinking prompts to solve math problems. We will solve problems that require a variety of math thinking. Holiday images are carefully selected to spark curiosity and engage learners to uncover math in the world around them during the Christmas season. Learners will work together to solve math problems involving mental math, fractions, measurement and geometry just to name a few. In this class, we create a space where all learners feel safe to share their thinking and mistakes are valuable. When students are curious about the math around them, they are motivated to persevere, problem solve and think like a mathematician. Note: Each class is unique with new content. This one-time class class can be taken more than once.
