Students will develop mental math strategies to solve addition, subtraction, multiplication and division problems.  Strategies include friendly numbers, doubling and halving, breaking numbers into place value, adding up, adjusting numbers, partial products/quotients, multiplying up, and proportional reasoning. 

I am very passionate about the importance of building a positive math mindset in learners of all ages.  I have watched many students build a solid math foundation and develop a love of math through participating in math talks.

On-going assessment by the teacher will inform the types of math questions presented during the lesson.  If students are grasping the concept quickly, questions will increase in difficulty.  If students are struggling, more time will be given with the strategy.
