Bookish Banter: Arthur Miller's the Crucible
Students will engage in a lively, low-pressure discussion of Arthur Miller's play The Crucible.

Beginner Level
Class is structured as a low-pressure "book club" style discussion of The Crucible. Ms. Jess will begin the meeting by providing background information on the play as well as its historical and cultural context. Focus will be placed on making the content of the play accessible to contemporary students through text-to-text and text-to-life connections. Ms. Jess will be prepared with a series of discussion questions based on common student questions and points of misconception. Students...
Students will be prepared to answer common test and essay questions on The Crucible.
Miss Jess is a certified Teacher of English with 8 years of experience as a high school English teacher. She taught The Crucible almost every year of her career as a public school teacher.
It is helpful if students have read the entire play. However, this class is open to reluctant readers who would like to supplement their limited knowledge of the play.
It is helpful but optional for students to have a copy of Arthur Miller's The Crucible. Students may also wish to have a method of taking notes on the discussion.
