Class Experience
Introduction to singing lessons : how lessons work, setting routines, following directions Technique: stretches and posture, belly breathing, long supported notes Ear Training: Matching pitch, identifying and performing high/low and up/down tones Rhythm: Being able to maintain a steady beat, chanting words and making percussion sounds, Singing in 4/4 meter Performance: story, words, melody, actions Performance: Being comfortable performing songs for others (each learner will have the opportunity to sing for others multiple times per class.
The joy of music starts at a very young age. As young singers learn about singing, rhythm, pitch, ear training, and creative movement, their appreciation for and music is enhanced and talent nurtured! Performing helps children of all ages gain confidence in many ares of life! Sarah LOVES working with young musicians. For 8 years, she was a resident teaching artist for the Lyric Opera of Chicago and taught young performers how to produce, write, and sing in their very own opera! Sarah has been teaching private and group voice lessons for 20 years and is a Royal Conservatory of Music Elementary Certified Voice Instructor.
A downloadable pdf packet will be provided on the first day of class.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
1 hour 20 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
