One-time class in which students will briefly learn the history of Salsa and then learn and practice a few basic moves.

We will begin class by briefly learning about the history of the music genre of Salsa. I will give a short 10-minute presentation using Google Slides. After the interactive presentation, the students and I will push away from our computers, stand up and learn three basic foundational steps for Salsa dancing. We will then end class by putting these moves together with "Cosas Nativas" by Frankie Ruiz (slower-paced song) and "La Vida es un Carnaval" by Celia Cruz (to speed things up). My slides, the music clips, and the movement will make for a memorable and wholesome learning experience for any type of learner (i.e. visual, auditory, social). Learners do not need any dancing experience as this is a beginner class, but they must know how to open a new tab on their Google Chrome window (although, I will also model this).
Learning Goals
Learners will improve their knowledge of the Salsa dance genre and will break a sweat through movement and good music!

I taught Secondary Spanish for the past nine years in Ohio. I have also taught English as a Second Language through an online platform called VIPKID for the past seven years. I have always believed that education is the key to any success a person wants and I am amazed at how accessible education is, especially in today's world.
