Description

Class Experience

Ms. Bender holds a BA in Historical Studies from Stockton University, where she studied Latin as her chosen language, and MA in Egyptology from the University of Toronto. She knows how to make things fun while facilitating learning in her unique, personalized style.
Students will be expected to make flash cards for all new vocabulary and complete translation assignments. Homework policy will be discussed in class.

A PFD textbook will be provided. For those interested in a fantastic interactive digital version of our books, one can purchase a relatively inexpensive subscription (about $13 for the year) to Cambridge Elevate, which will give access to all of the books in the series, plus additional material. Purchasing a hard copy of the textbook is recommended for for students who are not tech-savvy (used is perfectly fine, edition doesn't matter very much). The text we use is the Cambridge Latin Course Unit One
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
1 hour 50 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
Discussion of Roman culture unavoidably includes topics such as slavery and violence.
