Latin is one of the most important, enduring languages of the ancient world. In this four-week course, you continue learning the language of Caesar! Week One: Chapter Ten, learning about Roman education, first and second person plural Week Two: Begin Chapter Eleven, further uses of the dative case Week Three: Continue Chapter Eleven, learn about Roman politics Week Four:Chapter Twelve, first and second person imperfect, and we celebrate because we have finished Book One! Note: It is highly recommended that learners have strong sight-reading skills for unfamiliar words.

Discussion of Roman culture unavoidably includes topics such as slavery and violence.

A PFD textbook will be provided. For those interested in a fantastic interactive digital version of our books, one can purchase a relatively inexpensive subscription (about $13 for the year) to Cambridge Elevate, which will give access to all of the books in the series, plus additional material. Purchasing a hard copy of the textbook is recommended for for students who are not tech-savvy (used is perfectly fine, edition doesn't matter very much). The text we use is the Cambridge Latin Course Unit One

Ms. Bender holds a BA in Historical Studies from Stockton University, where she studied Latin as her chosen language, and MA in Egyptology from the University of Toronto. She knows how to make things fun while facilitating learning in her unique, personalized style.
