In this class, students will learn entry level ballet fundamentals, moves, and terminology while engaging in the discipline of classical ballet. Class is grounded in encouragement and LOTS OF FUN! WHAT TO EXPECT: Students will begin class with a warmup at barre (or a chair/wall), followed by a short round of light stretching, and an introduction to ballet positions/moves in center floor. Finally, learners will engage in a patiently demonstrated sample routine till they are gracefully doing the dance effortlessly. HOW TO PREPARE: Students are asked to dress casually, find an open space, and be prepared for an unforgettable class! This class is great for children who: -are interested in ballet -could use ballet as a foundation for stage performance or other dance -love ballet and dancing and are eager to learn, practice, and dance -need the boost of confidence that dance and ballet provide -could use improvement in posture, coordination, core strength, and flexibility -need a homeschool physical education class -need an afterschool activity Our ballet class will be open to all children: boys and girls. Barre (At home a chair or something you can use to balance) Appropriate attire for ballet class: -Comfortable pants/t-shirt -Leggings and a tank top -Leotard and tights Appropriate footwear for ballet class: -Ballet slippers -Sneakers -Socks -Bare feet Class Flow --------------- 1. Attendance, introduction to students and classmates 2. Copy Me Based Warm Up 3. Moment to exchange dance questions, comments and moves 4. Introduction/review steps in ballet dance 5. Repetition of steps for practice and muscle memory 6. Choreography based on the technical ballet combination to create a dance sentence (short dance) 7. Practice Performance 8. Cool down Class Schedule --------------- Week 1: Introduction to students and classmates and learn basic ballet stretches and moves along with their names Week 2: Learn Center Work/pre-barre (plié, tendu, etc.) and implement moves into a combination Week 3: Introduction to dance selection and start dance choreography Week 4: Learn Across the floor (ballet walks, leaps, turns, etc.) and review steps in hip hop dance and learn new steps Week 5: Repetition of steps for practice and muscle memory Week 6: Final Rehearsal and Final Performance as a Class to take back to our families This experience is meant to be fun! It's about smiling, laughing, moving and enjoying the music.
Learning Goals
Ballet students will build a foundation of ballet technique that will allow them to either pursue more advanced classes or simply improve their confidence, body awareness, strength, posture, and flexibility.

Parental Guidance
Be sure that ballet students are head-to-toes on camera when standing. Students should have water, room to move, comfortable clothing, and appropriate footwear (make sure they can move and dance in what they are wearing). Students can wear ballet slippers, sneakers, socks, or bare feet.
