Basic Facts Bootcamp:Mastering Addition & Subtraction: Fun Strategies for Young Mathematicians (Ages 7-12)

Course Description:
In this engaging 8-week course, young mathematicians will practice essential strategies to strengthen their retention of basic addition and subtraction facts up to 20. Each class is designed to boost mental math skills and build confidence through interactive and play-based learning. Lessons include mental math visuals, strategy reviews, and hands-on activities like games, songs, and guided practice, all aimed at making math fun and memorable.

With 30 years of experience teaching math, I incorporate the best practices to ensure learners not only grasp key concepts but retain them for future success. My teaching style is hands-on and authentic, using real-life situations to create meaningful connections. Through a combination of slides, virtual manipulatives, and engaging activities, I act as a math coach guiding your child every step of the way.

 Making ten as an addition strategy, using various manipulatives and games.

Making 10 using more than 2 numbers.
 Making ten using 2 of the numbers and adding on the rest. Various manipulatives and games will be used. Review previous strategy.

 Practise using the addition strategy, counting on, while using various manipulatives and games. Review previous strategies.

Other Details

Learning Needs
This class is designed to meet various learning needs through an active, hands-on approach to math. Students engage in play-based activities, with me as their coach, guiding them at their own pace. Numeracy brain breaks are included.
Pre-Requisites
Learners needed to say their numbers up to 20 and understand their quantity. If you join late please message about how to catch up. This is a content building class.
