Autism Minecraft Social Club: Let's Build and Have Fun Together! (Bedrock)
What's included
1 live meeting
1 in-class hours per weekClass Experience
PLEASE NOTE: If you are joining on a console, such as ps4-5, xbox or switch, you would need to get their respective online subscriptions. You will not be able to participate in class if your learner does not have this. The only times you would not need a subscription is on pc or tablet/phone as these do not have them. In this learner-directed, ongoing class we will start each week by joining a private server that is only for enrolled learners so we all have a safe and secure format to play on. Afterward, we will work and improve our social skills by asking for help when needed, working as a team, and using our communication skills (I will provide prompting and help guide students with participation, when needed). When playing the Minecraft game, students learn creativity, problem solving, self-direction, and collaboration. Students will also practice math skills (trading items and their cost), vocabulary, strategy, and reading skills (reading item names and directions). During gameplay we will practice back and forth communication skills, how to stay positive when things don't go our way, and teamwork. Week of 1: During this week we will build a shelter to survive the night Week of 2: During this week we will work on getting each other better equipment and armor Week of 3: During this week we will work on making a stable food source Week of 4: During this week we will work on upgrading our houses and any other touch-ups that might be needed. Disclaimer: The weekly summary can change as this is a learner-directed class so the topics change depending on what is happening in-game, whether that be updates to the game or actual gameplay. I love playing Minecraft and have been playing it for 10 years! I will use the knowledge I have learned from gameplay when teaching the class. Please note that the Bedrock edition of Minecraft must be downloaded in order to join the private server for the classroom. I will add everyone’s Microsoft account before class. Bedrock version is for IOS, android, PlayStation, Xbox and pc devices. This class is open to all students with all levels of abilities but is taught with accommodations in mind for those students who need extra support with learning. These accommodations will be things such as providing small group instruction rather than large group instruction in order to have more one-on-one and peer interaction, providing a clear beginning and end to activities and tasks to better help with instructions, giving the learners choices and control for more freedom of choice and providing activities to teach and support social/emotional skills with gameplay.

Teacher expertise and credentials
I am Autistic and know that for students like me, learning needs to be visual and fun! I have taught disabled students and student athletes for over 8 years. As a teacher, I love involving topics of high interest into learning, which helps my students stay focused. I will always involve all students in class participation and make them feel as comfortable as possible. I know some students can be shy or need time to open up and that's ok! If your learner needs any accommodations in class, I am more than happy to help.
