Teacher expertise and credentials
I am offering this class because learning ASL has become commercialized only focusing of the match up of words to sign. ASL is a real language and needs to be treated with respect and not as entertainment. As a 10 year learning, I have formal education and the passion to teach students from the perspective of a lover of culture and language. I graduated from college and became a full time ASL interpreter that has worked in different fields and been involved in ASL acquisition in students. Without gaining an appreciation of the culture, it just becomes appropriation.
