The class will cover the basic handshapes of the manual alphabet with an animal sign that complements the handshape. My class is structured with a teach and repeat style of teaching. I will require students to be involved and create the handshapes and signs with me. My lessons tend to be engaging and encouraging. Students will be meet in focus mode, additionally, participation in a community Padlet is encouraged. Our first time meeting, we will go over the vocabulary and provide resources to look up any additional individual interests. Our second meeting we will work as a community and share our learning. Students will create their own video recordings to insert into a Padlet. Depending on the level of students, students may copy my existing video or explore, learn, and present their own animal for the corresponding handshape. After sharing, we will play a game of Kahoot to reinforce our receptive skills. I encourage individual exploring and differentiate to each learner, no matter their level or skills.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Indiana Teaching Certificate in Foreign Language
I'm an educator and a mother to 4! I love to learn and love to teach. I am very high energy.
I taught first grade for three years before moving to mu husband's hometown where I taught high school American Sign Language for 4 years. Currently, I am teaching ASL online as an asynchronous course for an online platform for students in Indiana.
I believe learning should be fun because it is! When we are having fun, we make mistakes, try new things, and then learn. Learning is a journey and having fun while learning makes the journey worth it!
