Art and Science: Rainforest Animals and their Habitats

Come along with me and explore the animals of Rainforest. We are going to talk about different animals that represent every letter of the alphabet. We will learn fun facts about these animals, color, draw, and sometimes watch a video about the animal of the day.

In this ongoing class, we will learn about different Rainforest Animals. We will learn, explore, and discover fascinating facts about animals from the Rainforest.

Students will be provided with a color page with fun facts to bring to class each week. We will explore the animal and its habitats. In some class sessions, we will watch a short video on the animal of the day.

Students will be encouraged to participate and ask questions at any time.

Skills Covered:

This set can be used to build and develop a wide variety of academic skills including:
β€’	Animal Sciences
β€’	Habitats & Biomes
β€’	Early Reading Skills
β€’	A-Z Letter Recognition and sounds
β€’	Coloring & Creativity
β€’	Science Journaling
β€’	Research & Fact-Finding

The class will go as follows.
1.	We will talk about the letter of the day. We will go over the letter sound (for vowels we will go over long and short sounds)
2.	The animal of the day will be introduced, and we will go over the fun facts. (If students know additional fun facts or want to ask questions, they are free to do so at any time.)
3.	We will watch a short video on the animal of the day (if one is available). Make sure to pay attention because I will ask simple questions from the video or our fun fact sheet.
4.	The students will have the opportunity to color the animal of the day and if time is permitted, I will do a guided easy step-by-step drawing of the animal for students that would like to draw it too.
5.	Students will be given the opportunity to share their finished artwork.
*Sometimes students may choose to draw along with me during class instead of coloring their color sheet, which is fine, and they can do the color page after class if they’d like.

Attendance Policy
The class will begin on time and if your child is late the class will continue moving forward. If time permits, I will try to go over the drawing(s) that your student missed.

What to do…

Schedule Change Request?
I understand that life happens and sometimes you may need to change your learner’s class session. I have no problem with making arrangements with you. Please try to give me a 24hr. heads up if your learner is unable to attend their session and I’ll be more than happy to transfer them to another session at a different date or time.

What to do If my child is absent?
If a session is missed, please be sure to request a recording.

Class Cancellations

Canceled Class by the teacher?
According to Outschool’s policy, I am to wait 10 minutes in the classroom before canceling class. If no students are in attendance in class before the 10-minute grace period, the class session will be canceled and there will not be a recording of the session as I will not proceed to teach without students being present.

Also, if students arrive in class late, I will start the lesson from the beginning at whatever time the first late student arrives. I will continue the lesson until the scheduled class ending time. If we are not able to finish the activity due to tardiness the student is more than welcome to finish their activity outside of class and share their final results at the end of the next class session if time is permitted.

Teacher Emergency?
As stated, before life happens and most times it happens in and at the wrong moments. In the event I must cancel class due to an emergency I will give you the option of having your learner transferred to another class. If a transfer doesn’t work for you, I am more than happy to issue a refund for the missed class session on my behalf.

Refunds?
No-shows and missed classes are not entitled to refunds. If you miss a session a recording will be available for viewing. Please allow yourself and the student time to log in early in order to give yourself time to do a technical check and make sure you can enter the class without any issues

**There is no sibling discount for this course. Siblings and/or co-learners must be enrolled individually to attend and participate in class.

Hello Outschool,
My name is Teacher LaMeEl Doss. I have a B.A. in Communications and an M.S. in Marketing and I hold a TESOL certification. I am a small business owner too. I have years of teaching experience. I have taught public speaking (grades 7-12), art (all ages), and creative writing (ages 4-18) in a school setting for 10 years.
I have taught business courses (grades 7-12) for 4 years. I have also taught a few summer courses over the years on business and marketing to middle schoolers and high schoolers. I have been teaching home school for over 12 years. Currently, for the past 3 years, I have been teaching ESL online to both adults and children.

I own a business called The Hair Bow Box. I will incorporate bow making in one of the classes that I offer. I will also teach your child how to start a business whether it is a bow making business or something else that they are interested in.

I am also the owner of Painting and Crafts an art studio that provides paint and craft kits for both children and adults.

Teaching children is my passion because they are our future and any way that I can contribute to helping them advance I am all for it. My teaching philosophy is to make learning fun. When learning becomes fun children do not necessarily feel like they are being lectured because they can enjoy what they are doing and learning. I look forward to becoming your child’s teacher.
