Class Experience

In this class, we will cover grammar topics according to student needs and requests. We will analyze real-life texts and materials to supplement discovery of how the language is used. 

Students will be given opportunities to interact with the teacher in a collaborative style. We will cover grammar topics such as conjugating verbs and making nouns plural, in addition to learning new vocabulary.

Week 1:
Students will learn the past tense verb emphasis: ‘Indeed’
Write two sentences in Arabic using ‘Indeed’

Week 2:
Students will learn the question word ‘Where’
Write and orally present a dialogue consisting of 10 lines in Arabic using all the question words learned thus far.

Week 3:
Students will learn the sound plural.
Write three sentences in Arabic using the sound plural.  Translate to English.

Week 4:
Students will learn the broken plural.
Write three sentences in Arabic using the broken plural.  Translate to English

Week 5:
Students will learn at least 10 new nouns, 10 new verbs, 10 new proper nouns, and 5 new adjectives.
Make a list of all the new vocabulary with their definitions.

Week 6:
Students will learn the dual number in Arabic with the appropriate suffixes for masculine and feminine words. 
Write four sentences in Arabic demonstrating knowledge of dual numbers.  Translate to English.

Examples:

She built two houses.
He found two books.

Week 7:
Students will learn the demonstrative pronouns for ‘this’ and ‘that’ in the singular, dual, and plural form for both masculine and feminine words.
Write three sentences in Arabic using demonstrative pronouns.

Examples: 
These are two books.
Those are women.

Week 8:
Students will learn at least 10 new nouns, 5 new verbs, and 5 new proper nouns.
Students will write all the new vocabulary with their definitions.

Week 9:
Students will learn the Adjective-Plurals
Create a list of 10 adjectives consisting of the singular and plural form. 

Week 10:
Students will learn the past tense verb conjugations.
Create a table explaining the singular, dual, and plural form of 5 past tense verb conjugations.
Example:  ‘You did’, ‘They did’, ‘We did’

Week 11:
Students will demonstrate their knowledge of using the plural as the subject of a verb.
Write a dialogue between two people consisting of at least 20 lines demonstrating an understanding of verb conjugations and plurals while using a variety of nouns and adjectives.

Week 12:
Students will learn the personal pronouns for 1st person, 2nd person, and 3rd person for both masculine and feminine nouns.
Write a short story in Arabic consisting of dialogue utilizing the personal pronouns. 

Week 13:
End of course portfolio creation
