This course is designed to prepare students for AP World History, and is set up so that it can be taken multiple times so students can augment their skills and understanding each time. Over the course of four sessions, students will both have the opportunity to ask questions about course content and the exam, be quizzed by the instructor using released AP exam questions, and then apply their understanding to practicing skills necessary for the course. Session 1: We will focus on how to understand and study content for the AP World course, and use our understanding to practice short answer questions. Session 2: We will unlock the secrets of the multiple choice section of the exam, discussing stimulus-processing and question-answering strategies. Session 3: Our focus will shift to fundamental writing skills required for the DBQ and LEQ, focusing on thesis-writing and outlining. Session 4: We will work on strategies to help us comprehend documents and deal with the challenges of analysis writing on the long essays. Note: this class is intended to be a study, skill development, and review supplement to students learning the AP World curriculum.
