Class Experience

US Grade 3 - 6
In this class, we will look at mighty, magnificent, and misinformed people who found the leadership of their people thrust upon them. Using primary sources and images from their rule, we will examine both the basic story of their upbringing and career, as well as analyze the way they justified and maintained their position of power. We will close by trying to make an assessment of their leadership, drawing connections to our own time and to other figures we have examined in the course. In doing so, we will cover a wide range of rulers from ancient to modern history, and across several different continents.

Class topics:
- Session 1: Ludwig the Mad
- Session 2: Hatshepsut
- Session 3: Yaa Asantewaa
- Session 4: William the Conqueror
- Session 5: Dowager Empress Cixi

At the end of this first round, new topics will be added and the class will continue onward!

One last note: for the safety of all of our students, and to ensure that I can work with each student effectively, I do require students have their cameras turned on and be visible at all times. Students who cannot comply will be moved to the waiting room.
