In this 6-week class we will discuss the book Anne of Avonlea by L. M Montgomery the second book in series about Anne Sherley and her family.
Class experience
US Grade 5 - 8
In this six-week class we will discuss the novel Anne of Avonlea by L.M Montgomery. Students will read five chapters a week due to the shortness of the chapters and their tendency to be confined to one event over the course of the three year time period of this book. Prior to each class I will provide a list of questions to help facilitate the class discussion and to give students something to think about while reading the story. Students will work on their reading comprehension while installing an interest in the history of Prince Edward Island and the Edwardian era.
I hold a BA in History with a minor in Cultural Anthropology and a MA in Library Information Science. I have also had the opportunity to visit Prince Edward Island back in 2018.

This book does take place in the Edwardian era so corporal punishment is discussed as are different illnesses and injuries that would be common in a farming community during the early 1900's
