Hard work, growth in craftsmanship, and active participation are far more important than a perfect drawing in my classes. When students give their personal best, they have "arrived." They have "achieved" greatness.Class Experience
Beginner - Intermediate Level
The students will learn manga drawing skills by following a step-by-step live demo presented by Mr. Dan (also known as Mr. D and Mr. Dong). Mr. Dan will check with each student to ensure they're "on track." The class time is structured as follows: Part 1: Rules, Warm-ups, and Updates - Mr. Dan will briefly communicate (or remind) class expectations, give instructions on how to use Zoom, as well as start the students off with a warm-up drawing drill. Part 2: Live Demo - The teacher will begin teaching - by mostly demonstrating live - what the class will achieve and how to illustrate them in a step-by-step manner. Part 3: Lab Time - Following the teacher's demo, the student will attempt to copy or expand upon the teacher's drawing techniques under the instructor's guidance and feedback. We will cover the detailed techniques of creating a manga character head, including but not limited to Head & facial proportions, hairstyles, eye styles, costume design, professional drawing, inking, and coloring techniques using pencils, ink pens, and markers.
Learning Goals
Students will have a first-hand experience learning, drawing, and designing their manga character head "self-portrait." They'll learn the process of sketching "underdrawings," knowing appropriate facial proportions for eyes, nose, mouth, and hair, to later on the inking and marker-coloring techniques.

Learning Needs
As a parent with a special needs child, I understand the importance of communication to provide support and protecting their privacy. Please let me know your child's needs so I can provide support accordingly.
Parental Guidance
I let my students freely explore character and concept designs for ninja, samurai, warrior-hood, police, or military-related character roles or prop designs. To help foster a safe atmosphere, no explicit images or themes of excessive blood, gore, or death will be allowed.
