Have you ever wondered how to power nap or how the structure of the hand is different from the foot? Come join us whether you have studied the major systems of the human body or just want to study the body by topic. This is the class for you! Learners are welcome to join in for one topic or as a Mini-Mester along with your science curriculum. With each topic, we will do an investigation activity to reinforce what we are learning. The structure of the class will also include discussion, power point presentations, and games. Week of February 1-5 - Sleep-Stages and Functions Week of February 8-12- The Hand-Structure and Mechanics Week of February 15-19 - Pain – Ouch! Why Does That Hurt? Week of February 22-26 - Reflex Action Week of March 1-5 - The Disease of The Week Week of March 8-12 - Face Muscles, Teeth and Tongue – A closer look Week of March 15-19 - Syndrome of the Week Week of March 22-26 - Ear Invasion Week of April 1-2 - Allergic Reactions Week of April 5-9 - Healing of Major and Minor Wounds
Learning Goals
"Curiosity is the wick in the candle of learning." William Arthur Ward. Learners will be able to express their curiosity while improving their knowledge of human anatomy and physiology. They will complete investigations together in each class to reinforce learning. For the disease and syndrome weeks, the class will vote on a disease or syndrome they would like to know more about and that will be our focus of study.

Hello! My name is Stephanie and I have worked with children and adolescents for over 30 years as a nurse, social worker, co-teacher, and therapist. I have been working with Outschool since May 2020 and have been teaching ESL online for over 3 years. I have a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and a Master of Science in Social Work. I love teaching about the human body, science, and gardening.
My teaching style is experiential and interactive. I enjoy building relationships and facilitating discussion where learners can feel free to ask questions, share their experiences with others and be inspired to continue learning about The Human Body.
