  • These goals aim to give students a comprehensive understanding of the human body while aligning with relevant Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) for biology and life sciences. These goals will depend on which lessons your student attends. Class Learning Goals: Skeletal System: Understand bone structure and functions. (NGSS: HS-LS1-1) Muscular System: Explore muscle types and their roles. (NGSS: HS-LS1-1) Respiratory System: Examine lung anatomy and gas exchange. (NGSS: HS-LS1-2) Circulatory System: Identify circulatory components and their functions. (NGSS: HS-LS1-2) Digestive System: Analyze digestive organs and processes. (NGSS: HS-LS1-2) Nervous System: Investigate the brain, spinal cord, and neurons. (NGSS: HS-LS1-2) Sensory Systems: Explore vision, hearing, taste, and smell. (NGSS: HS-LS1-2) Endocrine System: Understand glands and hormone regulation. (NGSS: HS-LS1-2) Immune System: Describe immune defense mechanisms. Details: Students will be given many opportunities to practice and study between classes. The level of homework will depend on the student and their desired result from the course.
