Every week your learner will have the opportunity to follow the Engineering Design Process to plan and design a creation. Students will be engaged in a multitude of learning facets including group discussion, individual think time and sharing, sketching, writing, and creation of ideas and visual content. Students will learn how to identify a problem and create a solution. Students will learn the five steps of the engineering design process. During class I will work one-on-one with each student in order to pose guiding questions to assist during their creation work time. At the end of each class students will have the opportunity to share what they have started to work on. They may decide to continue working on their project after class as well. Each month you can enroll in a course for new projects. You do not have to take prior courses to enroll. Projects per week: Week 1: Original Flag Week 2: Roller Coaster Week 3: Maze Week 4: Garden Tool
Learning Goals
Students will learn how to identify a problem and create a solution. Students will learn the five steps of the engineering design process:
1. Ask: What is the problem or question?
2. Imagine: What are some solutions?
3. Plan: Draw a couple of different diagrams
4. Create: Choose a plan and create something
5. Test: Did it solve your problem or question?
6. Improve: Make updates and changes
7. Share: Share your work
