US Grade 1 - 3
Students will engage in various hands on activities that build upon their writing and math skills. The content and lessons will change depending on your child's needs and abilities. We will review and learn the following topics: Writing: 1. What is a complete sentence. 2. How to make sentences more descriptive. 3. Parts of a sentence - noun, proper noun, verb, adjective 4. How to use punctuation marks - period, question mark, exclamation mark 5. How to plan, write, and edit non-fiction, fiction, poetry, and informational paragraphs 6. Basic editing skills 7. How to start and end a story 8. Proper letter formations Math: 1. Adding and subtracting - 1,2,3 digits 2. Skip Counting by 2s, 5s, 10s 4. How to solve number problems 5. What is place value 6. Geometry 7. How to create, read, and use graphs 8. Ways to demonstrate thinking in written and symbol form 9. How to tell time to the hour and half hour 10. How to count coins and their values 11. How to be an efficient mathematician
Learning Goals
Students will improve their overall understanding of the writing process, grammar, and letter formation. They will learn and practice how to transfer their ideas into written format.
Students will become comfortable with manipulating numbers in order to add and subtract. They will develop skills to demonstrate their understanding and ability to discuss and share multiple strategies when solving number story problems. They will understand how to tell time to the hour and half hour using a digital and analog clock. They will be able to identify coins, their values, and use them to solve problems. They will be able to identify 2D and 3D shapes and their attributes. They will be able to gather information and create a graph and then discuss their findings.

Supply List
Students need paper, pencil, coloring materials, white board and dry erase markers (if possible) for each class. There may be other various materials needed for classes that will be posted to the classroom page prior to class.

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

Hello! My name is Maria Ramirez. I have a masters degree in elementary education from Simmons University. I hold a Massachusetts teaching license for grades 1-6 and a Moderate Disabilities License for PreK - 8. I have been teaching children for over 16 years in charter, public, private, online schools, homeschool, and internationally during the school year and summer. I am passionate in finding fun and engaging ways to teach. I believe in nurturing each student's curiosity and excitement to learn through hands on exploration and discovery. I am a mother to two children ages 7 and 9. We love to spend time vegetable and fruit gardening, taking care of our chickens, painting, going on nature walks, and reading books together.
