In this 6-week online course, students will learn the essentials to proper singing. A guide book will be provided to help students keep track of what they have learned and implement it into their own personal practice time!

When students study voice, they not only need to learn about pitch matching and producing a beautiful sound. There are several additional elements that are foundational to singing and vocal technique. When it comes to singing, it is important to know what makes a good singer and to understand the pedagogy behind the voice. When learning about vocal pedagogy, students will develop a deeper understanding of their own voice, how it works, and how to properly care for it. In All Stars Voice...
Students will understand the five foundational elements of proper singing. At the end of this course students will be able to recognize the signs of vocal tension (and how to fix it), how to navigate different parts of the voice, and how to effectively practice on their own.
I am currently pursuing my doctorate in Vocal Performance. I received both my Undergraduate and Masters in Vocal Performance and I have been a voice teacher and professional singer for almost 11 years. I am currently a Resident Artist with the El Paso Opera, where I frequently sing as a hired soloist. In addition to opera, I sing and teach jazz, musical theater, pop, and rock.
Homework Offered
Homework will be in the form of outside practice. Students will be required to spend 1 to 2 hours per week practicing the material covered in class. Outside practice is essential to succeeding in this course. Students will be required to keep a practice journal where they will record what they worked on in each practice session. I will check these journals each week to make sure students are practicing in an efficient manner.1 - 2 hours per week outside of class

Students should be able to match pitch for this class.
The Essentials of Singing Guidebook will be shared during the first class session. Students will also need a notebook to record their outside practice sessions.
We will be using the Essentials of Singing Guide in this class. This material will be provided by the teacher.
