All About Fractions - Add, Subtract, Multiply, Divide Fractions | Flex Class

In this 5-week class, students will learn all about fractions. This includes adding, subtracting, multiplying, dividing, and solving fraction problems. Students will learn how to add, subtract, multiply, and divide fractions by whole numbers, mixed numbers, and other fractions. Learners will apply their understanding to a variety of equations and word problems through modelling and arithmetic. Learners will develop skills to determine which operation should be used to solve word problems. In addition, they will learn the skills required to convert mixed numbers into improper fractions, and vice-versa. They also develop skills to reduce fractions into lowest terms, and use cross-cancellation. Learners will work to solve single and multi-step equations involving fractions, including the use of order of operations. Students will have time to practice these strategies on their own and receive instant feedback!

Learners should have a prior knowledge of what fractions are and have a good understanding of adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing whole numbers.

Each week students will be introduced to a new topic via video. The video will be posted on Sunday by 9:00 AM EST:
- Week 1: Adding fractions with common and uncommon denominators 
- Week 2: Subtracting fractions with common and uncommon denominators 
- Week 3: Multiplying fractions by whole numbers, mixed numbers, and other fractions
- Week 4: Dividing fractions by whole numbers, mixed numbers, and other fractions
- Week 5: Solving problems using fractions - Solving single and multi-step word and arithmetic problems

After learners have watched the video, they will complete an assignment that will be submitted. Upon submission, feedback will be provided within 24 hours.
